**711 Grados was born from a way of looking at the world.**
From curiosity about materials, from the need to create with my hands, and from finding beauty in what often goes unnoticed.

I'm Sandra Sánchez, an interior designer, jeweler and teacher. I studied Interior Design at the Universidad Taller 5 in Colombia and worked as a designer for several years. As life would have it, my path later took me to Spain, and that is where a new chapter of my creative story began.

In Spain I discovered jewelry and felt I could bring my way of understanding design to a different territory: a smaller, more intimate and more personal one. It was there that I began my jewelry training, through various courses and postgraduate studies in Barcelona and Madrid.

Jewelry appeared almost as a natural extension of my world. Where I once transformed spaces, I began to discover the pleasure of transforming materials into small pieces that can accompany a person, tell a story or hold a meaning.

Since I was a child I have been fascinated by making my own pieces, experimenting with recycled and natural materials and anything that sparked my imagination. Over the years, that curiosity became a craft, and the craft became a new form of expression.

In **artisanal and contemporary jewelry** I find a place where design, matter and emotion meet. I'm especially interested in discovering what a piece can say through its shapes, its textures, its imperfections and the trace of the hands that make it.

My training as an interior designer is also part of how I understand jewelry. Spaces, objects and pieces share the same language for me: proportion, balance, texture, color and, above all, personality.

Along this path, teaching has also become a way of sharing some of what I have learned. Through workshops and courses, I offer my experience and knowledge to those who are curious to discover the world of jewelry and experiment with their own hands.

711 Grados is the result of that journey.
Of a profession that taught me to look at spaces, of a journey that led me to discover new ways of creating, and of a passion that found in jewelry another way of expressing itself.

A place where design is transformed, matter comes to life, and every piece can become a small story made by hand.

## How this site is made

The original texts of this glossary are by Sandra Sánchez. On this website, artificial intelligence has been used as an aid in three tasks: correcting spelling and formatting errors, generating the illustrations and diagrams, and translating the content between Spanish and English.

Some later entries (materials, gems, techniques, tools, care and buying guides and traditions of the world) were drafted with the help of artificial intelligence from general knowledge. They carry a visible notice and are pending review by the author; the notice will be removed once she has reviewed them.
